Pagosa Springs Chamber Volunteer Programs
Over 400 hours per month are donated by approximately 50 committed volunteers to the Pagosa Springs Visitor Center. These dedicated diplomats love to tell people "where to go" in Pagosa from sightseeing to shopping, helping them acquire accommodations, or selecting a restaurant that best satisfies their taste buds for the day or throughout their entire stay. They consistently keep informed of all the activities that occur in Pagosa so that visitors can enjoy the best experience they can while in our town. We celebrate our volunteers that work summer and now winter to keep the Visitor Center open 7 days a week year round. There are training sessions and tours of the local and regional businesses and attractions held for the volunteers several times throughout primarily the summer season.
Volunteering at the Visitor Center is fun and rewarding. You can work a regular schedule or just be a substitute. If you would like to find out more about volunteering at the Visitor Center, contact Sandy Apolito, volunteer coordinator at 970-264-2360.
On Being a Diplomat:
"The greatest non-job in the world. Where else can you meet people from all over the world, who are here for a good time and to see new things (and you can tell them where to go). The benefits are great; getting to work for a great group of people, and getting tours of businesses, and a great luncheon at the end of the session. I've been doing this for 14 years and look forward to every new season."

"Interesting people come thru these doors. Some are easy to please, others ignore you!I feel it is important to welcome each one, sometimes it would be helpful to know foreign languages. Keeping up on the brochures, I am informed on new business locations and services and it helps me know the growing community to help the visitors. The office personnel are helpful."
~Genelle Macht~
"It is very satisfying to help visitors with their questions. I enjoy sending them to my favorite places in the area. We have a lovely area and I like helping make sure all visitors have a great time while they are here."
~Tom Schoemig~
"This gives me the chance to meet and help people from all over the world. In providing this help I find that I learn more about our community. The help and interaction with the Chamber staff makes the time go quickly. When away from this area I find that many know of Pagosa and so I have a chance to sell this area. This adds fun to trips."
~Jim Carson~
"Becoming a Diplomat has given me an opportunity to learn more about this wonderful community. The best part is meeting people from all over the world and getting to help them enjoy our area.Working with the staff is always a pleasure, and I do this because I enjoy it!"
